A thank you letter from a grateful soldier
Greetings Troop 4,
My name is Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class Shane Jackson. I just got your care packages today and the sailors I gave them to were very grateful. The last box we got from a Boy Scout troop went to the ship’s admin department (they handle our pay and legal paperwork), these last two boxes went to engineering. The brave men and women down there work in 100+ degree temperatures for 12 hours a day, every day. They will definitely appreciate the snacks and especially the soap. Working in that hot of a space doesn’t exactly leave you smelling like roses at the end of the day.
You all said you are thankful for us but we are thankful for you as well. Civilians that take the time to make care packages for us remind us that we are serving a greater cause out here and that the people back home do care. Even something as simple as the gum or Ramen goes a long way to improve a sailor’s mood out here. If you want to what we do out here, check out the ship’s Facebook page.
We regularly post photos of the ship and her crew doing what they do best.
Thank you all again for your support and the supplies.
Very Respectfully,
MC3 Shane Jackson
