Base Campers & Backpackers Meet at Summit–June 29, 2013
Scouts from Jackson Flats and Little Jimmy Campground, both depart their camps before dawn to summit Mt. Baden Powell.
Despite record-breaking heat, determined Scouts complete a first-ever accent of Mt. Baden Powell from two separate camps to mark the Troop’s 100th Anniversary! The summit also completes T4’s attempt of 100 miles of biking, hiking and kayaking for 2013.

Scouts Earn Prestigious Ad Altare Del Mass
Troop 4 scouts(Isaac Childs, David Emerson, Jordan White) Troop 131 scouts (Andres Chavez, Nathan Morales, Nicholas Teran, Alejandro Salinas, Nicholas Salinas, not pictured, Elijah Havens and Noah Morales)
Scouts from several area troops participated in a Religious Emblem Presentation Mass on 5/19/2013 at the Cathedral of our Lady of the Angels. The purpose of the Ad Altare Dei program (to the Altar of God) is to help Catholic Boy Scouts develop a fully Christian way of life in the faith community. The program took 6 months to complete and is organized in chapters around the seven sacraments and several service projects are required. The scouts each completed an average of 20 hours of service to various religious and community organizations serving the poor and elderly. Troop 4 leaders for the program were John White and Margie Emerson.
Mt. Zion Loop Backpack — 11 Miles
On May 11, a few adventurous scouts completed a two-day, 11-mile loop in The Angeles National Forest. This backpack qualifies Scouts for the San Gabriel Trails Award. As stories come in from the scouts who attended, we will post their accounts here! Until then, see more photos… Continue reading
San Jacinto Snow Backpack — January 26 & 27, 2013

On Saturday morning at 8am, the cars began rolling into the parking at Westminster Church. We were embarking on an adventure most have never experienced before: snow camping. Not just snow camping but snow backpacking. A week earlier, an Alaskan cold snap slammed Southern California bringing cold winds and snow to the mountains. Temperatures hovered in the teens at our destination but days before the trip, a high pressure system knocked out the cold storms making our weekend possible. The forecast called for rain and snow.
